Citywide Smoking Regulations

The City's regulations prohibit smoking in a variety of common areas in multi-unit residential facilities, including stairs, breezeways and carports and in all unenclosed balconies and patios. Patio and balconies are considered unenclosed if they have windows and doors that are open while the smoking is occurring. The City Council does NOT prohibit smoking inside a residence itself even if doors and windows are open. Individuals may also smoke outside if they are 20 feet away from any opening into a building. Building owners and homeowner associations may have more stringent regulations.

Neighborhoods are the environment in which we live. Blight and nuisances can devalue, detract and degrade the quality of the city and your neighborhood. The City depends on the eyes and ears of its residents to assure that it rules and regulations are followed. Be a part of that process by reporting City Code violations to city hall.
